The Coyotes won the coin toss and elected to kick-off, giving Waldorf the opportunity to take the lead. Waldorf’s first drive resulted in a quick three and out. This gave the ball right to the Coyotes. The game’s first touchdown was scored by KWU which was a quick 5 play, 48 yard drive resulting in a Kelton Evans 8 yard touchdown pass from Kelly Cordova. After the touchdown Waldorf came storming back on their own with a quick 49 yard pass from quarterback Hilton Joseph to receiver Michael Payton. That play marched the Warriors down the field which resulted in a Joseph 7 yard touchdown run. Following the Warriors’ touchdown, both teams were forced to punt. The last scoring drive of the quarter came on a 4th and 11, 21 yard pass from Cordova to Jacob Tatge. The Coyotes led 14-6 after the first quarter.

Starting off the second quarter, Waldorf turned over the ball on downs twice, and Kansas Wesleyan also turned over on downs once. Following the three sloppy offensive drives, the Coyotes scored another touchdown. This time with a 5 yard run for Cordova. Following the touchdown, the Warriors marched down to the 2 yard line. They were stopped on 4th and 1. The Coyotes were forced to punt on their next two drives, while Waldorf was picked off during their next two drives by Michael Guerrero. After the first half, the Coyotes led the Warriors 21-6 .

Both teams were forced to punt early in third quarter. They also took a couple of penalties each way. Hilton Joseph stepped up and connected for a big 27 yard throw with receiver Benjamin Mau, which ultimately led to a Joseph 8 yard touchdown run. The Warriors’ attempt for two was no good following the score. The Coyotes next score came on a big 66 yard pass from Cordova to Mitch Mufahl.

Waldorf began the fourth quarter with the ball, however they were down with a score of 28-12. After a Warriors punt, Cordova was picked off by Waldorf’s Dubem Awuzie. Warriors quarterback Hilton Joseph then tacked on another rushing touchdown, this time from the three yard line. The Warriors then failed going for two. The last two drives for the Coyotes both ended by fumbling the ball and coughing it up to Waldorf, and Waldorf ended up punting with just over a minute left, icing the victory for the Coyotes.

Following the Victory, the Coyotes are now 2-0 and have jumped to 10th in the Coaches Poll.
