No Friends in the KCAC
Tuesday night, November 8, the Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes took on the Friends University Falcons in the KCAC Quarterfinals. The Coyotes came out on top in three sets, sweeping the Falcons from the tournament, and ending their season. There was high energy, communication, and an immense amount of positivity from both sides. There was never a quiet time in Mabee arena. The fans, players, and coaches were cheering the entire time. The Coyotes came out hard and ready and took the first set 25-15, not allowing the Falcons to reach double digits until the Coyotes had gotten into the 20’s.
During the second set, however, the Falcons came out fighting and started off with a few kills that left the Coyotes behind. The Coyotes refused to go down without a fight and tied it up 4-4 with a few kills from #1 Valerie Most, along with a great block by the Coyote defense, and a kill by #20 Kim Blusher. This set continued to go back and forth and ended up being tied two more times. However, the Coyotes fought hard and won the set 25-21 by a kill from #10 Taylor Dell.
Yet again, the Falcons came out strong in the beginning of the third set, but they were no match
for the Coyotes. The KWU Offense came out with four kills by Most, #19 Kelsey Plummer, #13 Hannah Reynolds, and Blusher. An Ace by Reynolds tied up the set 5-5. The battle continued and the players continued to fight. However, one team came on out on top to advance to the KCAC Semifinals. The Coyotes wrapped up the third and final set 25-13.
